Therefore students will receive two scaled scores—Math and Evidence-Based Reading/Writing—and the overall SAT score will revert back to the familiar 400 to 1600 scale which was in place prior to 2005. The total score will be derived from seven subscores (1–15 scale), three test scores (10–40 scale), two cross-test scores (10–40 scale), and two section scores (200–800). That may seem difficult to understand, so take a look at this infographic from the College Board, which illustrates what goes into a total score. Comparisons between old scores and new scores are a work in progress as well. For the PSAT, an old vs. new concordance table will be released in December 2015. The forest biome includes terrestrial habitats that are dominated by trees and other woody plants. Today, forests cover about one-third of the worlds land surface and are found in many different terrestrial regions around the globe. There are three general types of forests—temperate forests, tropical forests, and boreal forests. Each of these forest types differs in climate, species composition, and community structure. The forests of the world have changed in composition over the course of evolution. The first forests evolved during the Silurian Period, about 400 million years ago. These ancient forests were very different than present-day forests and were dominated not by the species of trees we see today but instead by giant ferns, horsetails, and club mosses. As the evolution of land plants progressed, the species composition of forests changed. During the Triassic Period, gymnosperms (such as conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, and gnetales) dominated forests. By the Cretaceous Period, angiosperms (such as hardwood trees) had evolved. Although the flora, fauna, and structure of forests vary greatly, they often can be broken down into several structural layers. These include the forest floor, herb layer, shrub layer, understory, canopy, and emergents. The forest floor is the ground layer that is often covered with decaying plant material. The herb layer consists of herbaceous plants such as grasses, ferns, and wildflowers. The shrub layer is characterized by the presence of woody vegetation such as bushes and brambles. The understory consists of immature and small trees that are shorter than the main canopy layer. The canopy consists of the crowns of mature trees. The emergent layer includes the crowns of the tallest trees, which grow above the rest of the canopy. In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre-violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflict with other ethnic groups or secessionist/ revolutionary forces. â€Å"For a certain subset of nations, civil war appears to be a chronic condition.† (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it’s even important and also briefly compare it to the preceding phases of conflict. The purpose of his experiment was to have an idea of to see how people react the autocritical standard; during his experiment, he recorded how people will behave when given a source of power. Whenever food carts pass by and they hear it, they will immediately call it so they could by some. But because we know that these street foods are not nutritious, our group thought of making a street food out of a vegetable. The researchers thought of using alugbati since alugbati is already available at their backyard. The alugbati is a great source of antioxidant, vitamins A, B and C, iron and calcium. It also contains high roughage and it’s very easy to digest. They also added some shrimps to add flavor. Shrimp is a good sourc of calcium, iodine, and protein. First we harvested some alugbati leaves and we washed it with water. Then we sliced it thinly. After that, we mixed all the ingredients and added the alugbati leaves. We then shaped it into small balls and fried it in oil until it was golden brown. Our study generally aims to produce a kind of street food that is nutritious, special, and of course, delicious using this kind of leafy vegetable. We are also aiming to compare the taste, appearance, and odor of our own alugbati balls from fishballs, chicken balls and kikiam. After we have made the survey, it shows that our alugbati balls is very much acceptable for mothers than letting their children eat other kind of street foods. Our product is highly recommended to offer it to the people specially those who are fond of buying street food. This is full of nutritional value that our human body needs like antioxidants, vitamins A, B and C, iron and calcium that comes from the alugbati leaves. It also contains high roughage and it’s very easy to digest. The shrimp that is mixed in our product is high in calcium, iodine and protein but it is low in food energy. Our alugbati balls is also a significant source of cholesterol Alugbati is usually found in South East Asia and Africa. To come up with this kind of research, the reporters were given an idea from the alugbati leaves they saw at the backyard of their neighbor. B. Statement of the Problem a. Main Objective To produce an alternative street food from the usual street food we buy with the use of alugbati leaves. b. Specific Objectives 1. Scope and Limitations of the Study This project is dealt with the production of alugbati balls using alugbati leaves as the main ingredient and shrimps to flavor it. This was conducted at Blk 15 Lot 27 Princess Nicole Street, Dexterville Royale Subdivision, Dasmarinas, Cavite. The study limits only on the variety of vegetable which is alugbati as the main ingredient in making this product and shrimps to add flavor. E. Review and Related Literature Alugbati, a succulent, branched, smooth, twining herbaceous vine, several meters in length. Stems are purplish or green. Leaves are fleshy, ovate or heart-shaped, 5 to 12 cms long, stalked, tapering to a pointed tip with a cordate base. Spikes are axillary, solitary, 5-29 cm long. Fruit is fleshy, stalkless, ovoid or spherical, 5-6 mm long, and purple when mature. Alugbati or vine spinach is usually found in South-East Asia and Africa. It can easily grow up in garden without taking too much care. The general use of this plant is as vegetable and an important ingredient to make different dishes. But it may also use as a decorative plant in some province. It is a great source of antioxidant, vitamins A, B and C, Iron and Calcium. It also contains high roughage and its very easy to digest. The whole parts of plant like leaves, stem and seeds can be eaten. Research reveals that it’s good for health and works as a soft laxative. The roots are quite effective in removing redness of the skin. It has been used in dressing to cover up the swelled area to minimize the puffiness. In case of burn and scald, apply the mixture of leaf pulp and butter on wound. It produces a cooling effect. Liquid of the plant is effective for acne eruptions and also eases inflammation. For child and pregnant lady, the decoction of the leaves make a better laxative. As with other seafood, shrimp is high in  calcium,  iodine  and  protein  but low in  food energy. A shrimp-based meal is also a significant source of  cholesterol, from 122  mg  to 251  mg per 100  g  of shrimp, depending on the method of preparation. Shrimp consumption, however, is considered healthy for the circulatory system because the lack of significant levels of saturated fat in shrimp means that the high cholesterol content in shrimp actually improves the ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol and lowers  triglycerides. Capture of Fort Ticonderoga in the American Revolution The Capture of Fort Ticonderoga took place May 10, 1775, during the American Revolution (1775-1783). In the early days of the conflict, multiple American commanders recognized the strategic importance of Fort Ticonderoga. Located on Lake Champlain, it provided an important link between New York and Canada as well as held a treasure trove of badly-needed artillery. Moving forward in early May, less than a month after war started, forces led by Colonels Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold advanced on the forts small garrison. Storming the fort on May 10, they met minimal resistance and quickly captured it. Fort Ticonderoga served as a launching point for the American invasion of Canada in 1775 and its guns were later removed for use in ending the Siege of Boston. Gibraltar of America Built in 1755 by the French as Fort Carillon, Fort Ticonderoga controlled the southern part of Lake Champlain and guarded the northern approaches to the Hudson Valley. Attacked by the British in 1758 during the Battle of Carillon, the forts garrison, led by Major General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm and the Chevalier de Levis, successfully turned back Major General James Abercrombies army. The fort fell into British hands the following year when a force commanded by Lieutenant General Jeffrey Amherst secured the post and it remained under their control for the rest of the French Indian War. With the end of the conflict, Fort Ticonderogas importance diminished as the French were forced to cede Canada to the British. Though still known as the Gibraltar of America, the fort soon fell into disrepair and its garrison was greatly reduced. The state of the fort continued to decline and in 1774 was described by Colonel  Frederick Haldimand as being in ruinous condition. In 1775, the fort was held by 48 men from the 26th Regiment of Foot, several of which were classified as invalids, led by Captain William Delaplace. A New War With the beginning of the American Revolution in April 1775, Fort Ticonderogas significance returned. Recognizing its importance as a logistical and communications link along the route between New York and Canada, the British commander at Boston, General Thomas Gage, issued orders to the Governor of Canada, Sir Guy Carleton, that Ticonderoga and Crown Point be repaired and reinforced. Unfortunately for the British, Carleton did not receive this letter until May 19. This too was approved and he received a commission as a colonel with orders to raise 400 men to attack the fort. In addition, he was given munitions, supplies, and horses for the expedition. Known as the Green Mountain Boys, Allens militia gathered at Bennington before marching on to Castleton. To the south, Arnold moved north with Captains Eleazer Oswald and Jonathan Brown. Crossing into the Grants on May 6, Arnold learned of Allens intentions. Riding ahead of his troops, he reached Bennington the next day. There he was informed that Allen was at Castleton awaiting additional supplies and men. Pressing on, he rode into the Green Mountain Boys camp before they departed for Ticonderoga. Meeting with Allen, who had been elected colonel, Arnold argued that he should lead the attack against the fort and cited his orders from the Massachusetts Committee of Safety. This proved problematic as the majority of the Green Mountain Boys refused to serve under any commander except Allen. After extensive discussions, Allen and Arnold decided to share command. Moving Forward While these talks were ongoing, elements of Allens command were already moving towards Skenesboro and Panton to secure boats for crossing the lake. Additional intelligence was provided by Captain Noah Phelps who had reconnoitered Fort Ticonderoga in disguise. He confirmed that the forts walls were in poor condition, the garrisons gunpowder was wet, and that reinforcements were expected shortly. Assessing this information and the overall situation, Allen and Arnold decided to attack Fort Ticonderoga at dawn on May 10. Assembling their men at Hands Cove (Shoreham, VT) late on May 9, the two commanders were disappointed to find that an insufficient number of boats had been assembled.  As a result, they embarked with around half the command (83 men) and slowly crossed the lake. Arriving on the western shore, they became concerned that dawn would arrive before the rest of the men could make the journey. As a result, they resolved to attack immediately. Charging, they caused the sole sentry to abandon his post and swept into the fort. Entering the barracks, the Americans awakened the stunned British soldiers and took their weapons. Moving through the fort, Allen and Arnold made their way to the officers quarters to compel Delaplaces surrender. Reaching the door, they were challenged by Lieutenant Jocelyn Feltham who demanded to know on whose authority they had entered the fort. In reply, Allen reportedly stated, In the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress! (Allen later claimed to have said this to Delaplace). Roused from his bed, Delaplace quickly dressed before formally surrendering to the Americans. Securing the Fort Taking possession of the fort, Arnold was horrified when Allens men began to plunder and raid its liquor stores. Though he tried to stop these activities, the Green Mountain Boys refused to adhere to his orders. Frustrated, Arnold retired to Delaplaces quarters to await his men and wrote back to Massachusetts expressing concern that Allens men were  governing by whim and caprice.  He further commented that he believed the plan to strip Fort Ticonderoga and ship its guns to Boston was in threat. As additional American forces occupied Fort Ticonderoga, Lieutenant Seth Warner sailed north to Fort Crown Point. Lightly garrisoned, it fell the next day. Following the arrival of his men from Connecticut and Massachusetts, Arnold began conducting operations on Lake Champlain which culminated with a raid on Fort Saint-Jean on May 18. While Arnold established a base at Crown Point, Allens men began to drift away from Fort Ticonderoga and back to their land in the Grants. Aftermath In the operations against Fort Ticonderoga, one American was injured while British casualties amounted to the capture of the garrison. Later that year, Colonel Henry Knox arrived from Boston to transport the forts guns back to the siege lines. These were later emplaced on Dorchester Heights and compelled the British to abandon the city on March 17, 1776.
